A half halt is described as a momentary resistence in the seat, legs and hands (applied in that order). Most commonly it is used to balance a horse or fore-warn a horse of a change of instructions\direction. It is called a half halt because it is the beginning of a halt wherein the horse is released (from the halt) or driven forward prior to the completion of the halt. |
